In Season 1, Episode 1 of Still Standing, Jonny Harris went to the town of Bamfield, British Columbia. He met some fascinating people who were faced with some interesting “problems”. That’s in quotes because not everyone thought they were problems.
The only roads to Bamfield were not really roads at all, but logging trails, and it required a 4×4 to get there. Some people wanted a proper road and some didn’t. I wanted to know, “did the road go through?”
Additionally, there was a spectacular old chap who had a cannon and he said when he died he wanted his ashes shot out to sea. I wanted to know if that really happened!
I got to talk with Kelly Clement and Rose Janelle about what happened in the years after still standing. There are more people gone than I would have expected, and there’ve been some major changes since the show.
